After reading the following article on an environmental problem answer the questions. „The Duna-Tisza köze was declared a semi-desert region in a long term prognosis by FAO. According to local experts predicting desert is an overstatement, but the signs of expanding steppes are apparent. The drought of the decades and the dropping groundwater table are facts. The lakes of the Kiskunság National Park dried out and the character of the landscape has changed. Due to the dry period of the last thirty years the character of the puszta has undoubtedly changed. The habitats in saline areas have started to perish, in

certain lakes there has been no water for decades. One might ask what causes this process?
