Western Australia’s citizens speak as many as 270 languages (including Aboriginal languages) and identify with more than 100 religious faiths. Almost one-third (31 per cent) of Western Australians were born overseas and, in

addition to English, 15 per cent of the population speaks a language other than English at home. centre. Business Hours Standard business hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Climate Perth has an average of eight hours sunshine a day. Summer is hot with an average temperature of 29 degrees Celsius (°C) during the day and 17°C at night. Winter is from June to August and is mild, with an average temperature of 18°C during the day, and 10°C at night. Clothing Lightweight suits are the trend for business clothes. Casual dress is worn on all other occassions. Credit Cards Credit cards are acceptable in Perth. The most common are Visa, MasterCard, Bankcard, American Express and Diners Club. Currency The currency that is used is the Australian Dollar (AUD). The denominations are $100, $50, $20, $10 and $5 notes, and coins, $2, $1, 50¢, 20¢, 10¢, and 5¢. Ethnic Groups At the 2011 Australian Census, 31% of Western Australia’s total population were migrants. The largest migrant groups (by percentage of WA population) were: United Kingdom (10.3%) New

ABS) Government Australia is a democratic, federal-state system, and a member of the British Commonwealth. Three bodies established by the Australian Constitution - Parliament (legislative), Commonwealth Executive (executive) and Federal Judicature (judicial powers) - make Australia a constitutional monarchy, a federation and a parliamentary democracy. Health Risks The sun is very intense. Hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen are recommended even on cloudy days. Languages English is the widely used language. However, because of the European and Asian immigrant population there is a wide range of other languages spoken such as Italian, Malay and Chinese. Tipping It is not compulsory to leave tips in Perth, however it is appreciated especially in hospitality venues. If you decide to leave a tip, it is suggested that between 5-10% of the total bill is sufficient. Electricity The normal current is 220-240 volts AC; 50Hz. The three pin power outlet is different from many countries including Asia. It is recommended to look for an Australian adaptor socket. 04 05 Australian Visa Information Travel Information To enter Australia, you must obtain an Australian visa by completing a Visa Application Form. Perth Airport has four terminals that offer regional, interstate and international commercial air services. International Terminal 1 (T1) and Domestic Terminal 2 (T2) are located off Horrie Miller Drive and Domestic Terminals 3 and 4 (T3 & T4) are located off

Brearley Avenue. Tourist and Business Visitor visas may be available as an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA).
