In four years, IUP replaced nearly a dozen residential buildings, transforming the campus’s living-learning environment. The new suite-style buildings opened between

2007 and 2010. The IUP Student Cooperative Association not only owns and operates the Hadley complex, adjacent to the campus, but also owns and maintains a 280-acre outdoor recreational park a short distance away. Punxsutawney Facilities on eight acres in Jefferson County and in downtown Punxsutawney provide a unique academic and residential experience; Punxsutawney is also the home of the IUP Academy of Culinary Arts. Northpointe Facilities in Armstrong County serve as a regional educational resource, providing undergraduate, graduate, and noncredit programs. Monroeville A graduate and professional center in Allegheny County provides courses at convenient times in a convenient location. Courses are also offered at the State System’s Dixon Center in Harrisburg and through distance education. 16 to 1. Nearly all classes are taught by faculty members, as opposed to graduate assistants. Student Organizations More than 250 formal organizations are recognized, including 32 fraternities and sororities. The Student Cooperative Association operates and sponsors a variety of activities. Recent Accolades IUP has appeared in Princeton Review’s Best Colleges, U.S News & World Report’s Best Colleges, Forbes Magazine’s America’s Top Colleges, Washington Monthly’s ranking of socially responsible schools, G.I Jobs’ Military Friendly Schools, Military Times’ Best for Vets, and the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. IUP was among US News & World Report’s top public schools in 2014 and Washington Monthly’s Best Bang for the Buck schools in 2015. Eberly College of Business and Information Technology has appeared in Princeton Review’s Best Business Schools, and Military Times’ Best for Vets: Business Schools. Prizewinners IUP professors have won more than 60 Fulbright scholarships, and students have won 12 Fulbright awards,

eight Barry M. Goldwater Scholarships, 16 Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships, and 12 Freeman-Asia study abroad awards. IUP also has had the No. 1 ROTC cadet in the nation, the Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Educator of the Year, two Rome Prize winners, four professors in Princeton Review’s The Best 300 Professors, and a top-10 professor on RateMyProfessors.com IUP’s ROTC program has won the MacArthur Award.
